BioXL Delivers Government Bioenergy Training Review

BioXL together with Tipperary Institute and Waterford Institute of Technology appraised the training and education needs of the Irish Bioenergy industry. This involved extensive international research on bioenergy training programmes and consultation with Irish actors to establish future training and education priorities for the industry. Job creation prospects in the bioenergy industry were considered as a yard-stick of training requirements.

Based on conservative scenarios used in the Study, 300 Full-Time Equivalent jobs (FTEs) could be sustained in the construction and installation of
bioenergy technologies to 2020. Almost 1,200 FTEs could be employed in the operation and maintenance of bioenergy projects by 2010, increasing to 2,000 by 2020.
